We have a lot of different animals at our animal shelter/zoo which are not only mammals but a lot of reptiles too. For example, we have a Chinese softshell turtle (Suppon).
The softshell turtle (Suppon) is a freshwater turtle known for its soft shell. It has a long nose that helps it breathe more easily in water and is famous for its strong bite. It is nocturnal and carnivorous, feeding on small fish and shellfish. In Japan, it is considered a luxury ingredient, often used in Suppon hot pots. Fortunately, we are not a restaurant, so rest assured nothing will happen to the turtle under our care.
Aside from the shelter/zoo, our cafe is also open at the same time and offers light hot meals, desserts, and hot beverages to keep you warm.
Our cafe and the shelter/zoo are open from 11 am to 2 pm at the former junior high school of Shimoichi (now rebranded as Shimoichi Shuugakkou)
